How to Apply for Pan Card ?

Applicant can either apply
online using this website or submit a hardcopy PAN application to any Protean
TIN-FC or PAN centre.

Applicants should read the
instructions and guidelines provided in the application form before filling it
out.

The applicant should ensure that
all relevant supporting documents (as stipulated by Income Tax Department Rule
114) are included with the application. The application form also includes
information on the required documents. The name on the application form and the
name on the proof of identity/proof of address must match exactly.

Applicants can get application
forms from TIN-FCs, PAN centres, and other vendors who provide such forms, or
they can download them for free from this website.

Protean sends the application
details to ITD after digitising the submitted form.

ITD issues a new PAN after
receiving an application for allotment (Form 49A). Protean prints the PAN card
after it is allotted by ITD and sends it to the applicant along with an
allotment letter.

In the case of a ‘Request for
New PAN Card or/and Changes or Correction in PAN data,’ the application request
is given to ITD for database update, and after ITD’s approval, a new PAN card
is printed and sent to the applicant.

All communications are sent to
the address specified as the ‘address for communication’ on the form.
Applicants who provide a valid e-mail address in the application are notified
of the new PAN via e-mail in addition to the PAN allotment letter. Applicants
are requested to include their phone number (ideally a mobile number) in the
application. This provides faster communication in the event of a discrepancy
in the application.

Guidelines for PAN applications by
Foreign Citizens

After three days of submitting
their application, applicants can use the status track option to check the
status of their application using a 15-digit unique acknowledgment number.
Alternatively, applicants may phone the TIN Call Centre at 020 – 2721 8080 to
inquire about the progress of their application. The status of the PAN
application can also be tracked by sending an SMS to 57575 with the message
Protean PAN and your 15-digit acknowledgement number.

 

1. If Physical PAN
   Card is required:
   
   While submitting the PAN application form, the applicant must declare
   whether a physical PAN card is required. If the applicant chooses to
   receive a physical PAN card, one will be printed and delivered to the
   communication address. If an e-mail address is supplied in the PAN
   application form, the e-PAN card will be mailed to that address in PDF
   format. The applicable fees are as follows:

2. If Physical PAN
   Card is not required:
   
   If a physical PAN Card is not required, the PAN applicant must note this
   while submitting their PAN application. In such circumstances, an email
   address is required, and the e-PAN Card will be issued to the applicant’s
   email address. In such instances, no physical PAN Card would be
   dispatched. The applicable fees are as follows:
